Why do we gather?

Lately, we’ve been thinking about something simple, but not easy to answer.

This reflection was sparked during Volcano 2025.

But it stayed with us long after.

It starts with perspective.

If you zoom out far enough, everything we are feels small.

A single point in a much larger system. Every idea, every company, every breakthrough, happening in one place.

But then you zoom back in.

Into Guatemala.

Into a room.

Into people who chose to be there.

And suddenly, it doesn’t feel small anymore. Because what’s happening in that space isn’t random. There is direction behind it. There is intention behind it. You can feel that something is being built, even if it’s not fully visible yet.

And that’s where the perspective starts to change.

Maybe what really matters isn’t how things look from the outside, but what they are capable of becoming when the right people come together. The real value isn’t scale at the beginning, but  the potential in motion.

We keep coming back to one idea:

Intelligence isn't about knowing more. It's about creating more possibilities.

It’s about expanding what can happen next. The ability to open paths, to generate alternatives, to build optionality into the future. When you think about it that way, progress stops being about having the right answer and becomes about creating the conditions where better answers can emerge over time.

Individually, we all operate within limits.

We specialize.

We focus.

We build in specific directions.

But when people connect with intention, those limits start to expand.

Different perspectives overlap.

New ideas form.

Momentum builds.

And suddenly, what felt complex becomes possible, faster.

We are entering a time where this expansion is accelerating at a scale we haven’t experienced before. Technology is increasing what each of us can do, and AI in particular is reshaping how we create, solve, and build. But access to these tools is no longer what sets people apart. What matters now is how they are used, what is being built with them, and most importantly, who is involved in that process.

This is what Volcano is built for.

Not just a 3-day experience.A system that keeps evolving.

A space where connections don’t end when they happen they grow, transform, and move forward.

Because what starts as a conversation doesn’t stay contained.

Every meaningful connection carries the potential to extend beyond its origin. An idea becomes a conversation, a conversation becomes a collaboration, and a collaboration becomes something that reaches further than anyone initially expected. What starts in one place begins to travel, to amplify, and to evolve through the people who carry it forward.

That’s how expansion really happens.

Not as a single moment, but as a continuous process.

What starts here doesn’t stay here.

It moves through people. And it keeps expanding.

With purpose,

The Volcano Team 🌋
